finzean school

Finzean School is a small primary school serving two village communities (Finzean and Ballogie) and the surrounding rural area. The school roll is currently 57. There are 3 composite classes taught by a full-time teacher, a probationer, 2 part-time teachers and the Head Teacher. Our ASL teacher supports staff and pupils on a weekly basis.. The school is well supported by two part-time Pupil Support Assistants, a part-time administrator/clerical assistant, a part-time janitor and a cleaner. Our lunches are provided by Kincardine O Neil Primary School kitchen and served by our catering assistant daily.

Ballogie Nursery is a small nursery school, one of only two in Aberdeenshire who have a separate location from their school. Ballogie Nursery supports Finzean, Ballogie and Birse communities, and Kincardine O Neil and Strachan pre-school pupils. The nursery roll is currently 8.

Ballogie Nursery spends occasional sessions at school with the P1 pupils as part of a very successful transition programme. Sessions run from 9 am to 12.10 pm every morning.

Both sites benefit from excellent outdoor spaces, including the school wood which is located about half a mile from the school. The school and nursery staff members attend collegiate meetings and have meaningful community links, benefitting from a very active and supportive Parent Forum.
