Ballogie Nursery Newsletter – 3
Dear Parents/Carers March 2015
Hope you’ve all enjoyed your mid-term break. Here are just a few things that has been happening since our last newsletter and that will happen before Easter.
Mrs Bremner has recently completed her First Aid and Food Hygiene training. She has also studied the new National Nutritional Standards and will be implementing it when planning and preparing snacks, as well as during baking activities.
During the February In-service Mrs Bremner, Mrs Nicoll and Mrs Byers looked at planning activities for the rest of the term and have undertaken an Annual Review of the Infection Control Policy.
Mrs Bremner and Mrs Nicoll will shortly begin looking at using the new ipads for profiling. In order to do this they will be visiting other nursery settings to view best practice.
We continue to welcome lots of visitors to nursery and as always the children continue to welome and play with all visitors. Janet Kingsland (Banchory Health Visitor) recently visited and talked to the children about caring for a baby. Dot from the Childsmile team has visited and talked about food and drink that is good for our teeth. Mrs Stutter (local minister) came and talk to children about trust. She will be returning on Thursday 19th February and hopes to visit once a fortnight after that. We have also had a representative from The Seed Box initiative.
Pre-School (Nursery) Registration
Nursery Registration is from 23rd February to the 6th March 2015. If your child currently attends Ballogie Nursery for their ante-preschool year (yellow group) they will automatically be registered for their pre-school year.
All children who were born between March 2010 and February 2011 will be invited for an eye screening session. The rescheduled session will take place in the nursery on Friday 20th February. The children involved in these sessions have received paperwork for their parents to complete and any outstanding forms should be returned to nursery as soon as possible.
We are planning an Easter Soft Start on Thursday 2nd April. Weather permitting we are hoping to enjoy an outdoor Soft Start for a change. More details will follow nearer the time.
World Book Day
The children are asked to come to nursery dressed as their favourite book or film character on Wednesday 4th March for World Book Day. On this day they will receive their World Book Day vouchers.
Crocus Coffee Morning
Nursery parents and carers are invited to the Crocus Coffee Morning in Finzean Primary on Friday 6th March. Further details can be found in the school newsletter.
Red Nose Day
Children are invited to come to nursery dressed in red for a donation to Red Nose Day on Friday 13th March.
Next term we would like to ask for volunteer/s to help with the Ballogie Busy Bags. On a weekly basis this would involve recording which bag each child has and then checking the contents of the bags when they have been returned. If you are able to help with this please speak to a member of the nursery team.
Topics for the rest of this term
From now until the end of term we will be looking at Chinese New Year, Fair Trade, Babies, Houses & Homes, and Easter. If you have any suggestions or ideas for any of these topics please speak to a member of the nursery tea.
