26. February 2016
Scottish Schools Snowsports Association – Primary qualifiers at Lecht on Wednesday 24th February.
A parent reports:
A great day out was had by the 8 pupils yesterday at the Lecht. Both teams skied very well against very stiff competition. The Blue team, made up of Jemma, Ritchie, Cammie and Blair were 11th out of 15. The red team, Daisy, Ewan, Scott and Catriona, were in a very tough group and were 6th out of 6.
Individually we did well, with Jemma coming 10th out of a field of 26 girls, a great result considering it was her first race on snow.
Ewan did really well, getting 9th position up of 37 boys and Daisy got 3rd place and a Bronze medal in a field of 9 girls.
All the pupils behaved very well, as well as racing they got some good on snow instruction from Dave Latham, met pupils from a wide range of schools and were probably the last to leave the slopes.

Well done to the 2 teams competing at the Scottish Schools Skiing Association’s competition at Garthdee this weekend!
A parent report from the event : “On Saturday night 8 pupils took part in the SSSA ski competition at Garthdee, it was a hard competition with both Finzean teams skiing their socks off. Against the odds Finzean did incredibly well and the Red team ended up in a Ski off against Banchory Primary A team for first place. We were pipped at the post but delighted with the result anyway. The Red team came away with silver position and have qualified for the Scottish schools championship Finals in Glasgow on October 28th!!! A great result for our wee school!!!” 5. October

25. Sep 2015 Today the school hosted a very successful Macmillan Coffee Morning and raised over £620. It was great to see so many people at school, enjoying their coffee and fine pieces made by the classes. Thank you very much for the donations to raffles and stalls and well done to the “Green Team” for the organisation.
15. Sep 2015 Today Finzean Primary School hosted a very popular Careers Fair. The P1-7 pupils were visited by a range of professionals: Writer, ballet dance teacher, geologist, engineer, IT expert, policeman, outdoor learning coach, architecture, conservation as well as gardening and landscaping. The pupils interviewed the professionals and were pleasantly surprised that skills highlighted as generally important to be successful are all addressed in the daily learning of problem solving, speaking and listening as well as people skills and teamwork. A P1 pupil especially liked speaking to the police man and the outdoor learning coach and enjoyed sharing the events of the day with his parents. A P6 pupil appreciated all the objects and equipment that the experts brought in to show. Parent, Sally Wallis, who chatted to children about her job as a freelance writer at the Careers Fair, said: “The event went very well, bringing together pupils of all ages with parents working in a range of fields from the Police and Ballet tuition to Engineering and Journalism. The children were clearly interested and had prepared well with some great questions.”
